This Privacy Policy explains how Tream (“Tream”, “we”, “us”) collects, uses, shares and protects personal information when you visit tream.app, use the Tream web app and its API (together, the “Service”), or contact us. If you have questions, email [email protected].
Tream is an independent product and is not affiliated with TikTok or ByteDance. TikTok’s own privacy policy governs how TikTok handles your data.
Information we collect
Information you give us
- Account information — your name, email address and sign-in details when you create an account. Sign-in is handled by our authentication provider (Clerk); if you sign in with a third-party provider such as Google, we receive basic profile information from that provider.
- TikTok username — the public username you stream from, which you add so the Service can connect to your LIVE. We never ask for your TikTok password.
- Game content and settings — rounds, timers, team names, keywords, example comments, trivia and word packs you write or upload, and images you upload (for example, candidate photos in Voting Arena).
- Communications — messages you send us by email or through the contact form, and any information you choose to include.
Information from your TikTok LIVE
While a game is running and connected to your LIVE, the Service reads the public comments posted in your live chat, including each commenter’s public username, display name, profile picture URL and comment text. This is needed to make the games work (for example, counting votes or showing who solved a puzzle). Live comment data is processed in real time to display the game; we do not build profiles of your viewers or sell this data.
Billing information
Payments are processed by Stripe. Your full card number and security code are entered directly with Stripe and are never stored on our servers. We receive and keep limited billing records from Stripe, such as your Stripe customer ID, subscription plan and status, billing country, the last four digits and brand of your card, and payment history.
Information collected automatically
When you use the Service we collect technical data such as IP address, browser and device type, pages visited, timestamps, and error logs. We use this to operate, secure and improve the Service.
How we use information
- To create and manage your account and authenticate you.
- To provide the games, connect to your LIVE, save your settings and packs, and display viewer comments on screen.
- To process payments, manage free trials and subscriptions, send receipts, and prevent fraud (via Stripe).
- To respond to support requests and send service messages such as billing notices, security alerts and changes to our terms.
- To monitor, debug, secure and improve the Service, and to enforce our Terms of Service.
- To comply with legal obligations, such as tax and accounting rules.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.
Legal bases (EEA & UK users)
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we process personal data on these legal bases: performance of a contract (providing the Service and processing payments you request); legitimate interests (securing and improving the Service, preventing abuse, and processing public live comments needed for the games you run); legal obligation (tax, accounting and law-enforcement requests); and consent where we ask for it, which you may withdraw at any time.
International transfers
Our service providers may process data in the United States and other countries. Where we transfer personal data from the EEA, UK or Switzerland, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses or an adequacy decision.
Data retention
We keep account information, settings and packs for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete or anonymise your personal information within 30 days, except where we must keep it longer for legal, tax, accounting or fraud-prevention reasons. Deleting your account does not erase records that Stripe must keep under its own legal obligations. Live comment data is used in real time and is not retained beyond what is needed to run the current game session and short-lived logs.
Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or export your personal information, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent. You can update most account details in the app, and you can delete your account at any time. To make any other request, email [email protected]. We will verify your request and respond within the time required by law (usually 30 days). You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
California residents: under the CCPA/CPRA you have the right to know, delete and correct personal information, and to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
Security
We protect data with industry-standard measures including encryption in transit (HTTPS), access controls and reputable infrastructure providers. Payment card data is handled by Stripe, which is certified to PCI DSS Level 1. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Children
The Service is intended for people who are at least 18 years old (or the age of majority where you live), consistent with TikTok’s requirements for hosting a LIVE. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or under 16 in the EEA). If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the “last updated” date above, and if the change is material we will notify you by email or in the app before it takes effect.
